Nnabagereka Development Foundation
 
Through the vehicle of the Nnabagereka Development Foundation , the Nnabagereka as the founder and patron is committed to activities that help people’s efforts in uplifting their well-being through poverty reduction initiatives. Nnabagereka Development Foundation, a fully registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) whose overall mission is to contribute to the promotion of socio-economic development through support to education and health initiatives, community empowerment and promotion of good cultural values and practices.

Through the (NDF) project, the Nnabagereka has initiated various programmes geared towards promoting cultural morals, education, and health and community empowerment. The Foundation undertakes activities under seven major programme areas and has projects in each of them namely:
  • Child Welfare
  • Education, literacy and community development
  • Economic empowerment of women
  • Employment creation for the youth
  • Health, water, sanitation and environmental protection
  • Modern and traditional agriculture for food security
  • Traditional cultural endowment

NDF complements the poverty eradication efforts of the Buganda kingdom, Central Government, Local Governments and the communities themselves with particular emphasis on promoting the welfare of children, youth and women.

MISSION

The mission for NDF for the period 2006 to 2011 is;

  • “To contribute to the promotion of socio-economic development through support to education and health initiatives, community empowerment and promotion of good cultural values and practices”

To accomplish the mission, NDF will focus on four program areas with very specific target groups

The focal areas include;

  1. Education
  2. Health
  3. Community empowerment
  4. Strengthening of NDF
  5.  institutional and organizational capabilities.                                          
Target groups

Within the first three focal areas, (Education, Health and Community empowerment) the NDF focuses its activities on three major target groups
      • Children
      • Youth
      • Women
OBJECTIVES

The objectives of  NDF in accomplishing the mission are respectively envisaged per focal area.

  • Education - To enhance access to education for disadvantaged children, and youth.
  • Health  - To contribute to improved health standards for children, youth and women .
  • Community empowerment - To contribute directly to the improvement of living standards through increasing household incomes. 
  • Strengthening NDF institutional and organizational capabilities  -  To increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the NDF institutions (The Boards and the Secretariat), to manage and grow the NDF in a sustainable and significant
